Skydive for Back Up

I am raising money for Back Up - the charity for people affected by spinal cord injury. 

 

I was fortunate enough to be part of the Back Up ski course in Sweden this year where I met some incredibly inspiring people and had the best week I've had in years. I'm a Bladder & Bowel Nurse Specialist for Wellspect HealthCare, supporting people in their own homes with intermittent self-catheterisation and transanal irrigation amongst other things, many of which have spinal cord injuries. 

 

I have always wanted to skydive, but felt it was irresponsible having 3 young dependents. My 3 sons are now young adults living their own lives, my oldest 2 are already in the military and my youngest is joining August this year (extremely proud mum to say the least)! My oldest son now has his skydiving license and aspires to be in the Royal Navy display team once he has enough skydives under his belt and my youngest two did their first jumps in America last year…...so that just leaves me!! 

 

For my birthday this year they have arranged a skydive for me at the Black Knights Skydiving Centre in Lancaster on Sunday 28th May, and I will be tandem skydiving from 15,000 ft (the highest in the UK). My friend and colleague Tracy Whitehouse is also doing a skydive on the same day. Having had the most incredible week in Sweden with Back Up and experiencing what they do and how they change lives, I would like to raise some money to say thank you. I fully appreciate that times are financially hard for all of us at present, but if you could spare even a few pounds it would mean a great deal to me and the people that benefit from this amazing charity.
